Put your trust in God

Who do you trust?

“Therefore I tell you, do no worry,” (Matthew 6:25)

Worry is the opposite of trust. Our days are full of problems that steal our peace.

What is for breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

What do I have to get done today?

Do we have enough money to pay the bills?

What will people think about my clothes?

What if I say the wrong thing?

What if I get sick?

We spend our days focusing on our problems and worrying. Jesus tells us to not worry, but how do we stop something that we do as often as we breath? We need to put our trust in God.

Easier said than done

Trusting someone is really hard to do. We have to believe that they can do what we need done. But we are told to “seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33). Instead of worrying, if we spend time with God and reading the Bible; we will be given what we need. Now, what we think we need, may not be what God knows we need.

A quiet whisper

My family is presently searching for a house, and I spend my days worrying about when we will find our house. We run after and worry, but we are forgetting that God already has this all figured out. I finally realized that God has the house for us all picked out, and we will find it in his time. So I put my worries into his hands, but shortly later I was worrying if we got a house we put an offer on.

“Why don’t you trust me?”

“I do.”

“Then why are you worrying?”

Yes, this is a daily struggle for me. I try hard to have everything organized. I feel as if I have worked hard to get where I am, but it is truly God who is in control. We should gladly give everything over to God. Look at the amazing creation he made, and I can barely draw stick figures!

I challenge you to instead of focusing on your problems or worries; next time spend a little time in God’s word.

What are you struggling to trust God with, I would love to hear about it in the comments below.

  1. The more time I invest in building my relationship with God the less time I have to worry about what the world is doing or going to do. And along the way of investing in the relationship with God, I find the answers and the Words that bring peace no matter what the world is doing anyway 😀
